Questions And Answers
Here is a set of frequently asked questions on the topic, which we see time and time again on forums and other social communities.
Where am I able to test these products? Having a go with systems is a wise idea, you get a real feel for the quality, see how it looks in the flesh and picture it in your house. Unfortunately it isn’t always that easy to find them in the flesh. You can try your regular electrical retailers such as Comet and Currys. Often they are only easy to find online. If the product you are interested in is a major brand such as Sony, you can try going to a ‘Sony Centre’ shop to try it there.
Can I get a refund if I’m not happy with what I buy? Legally (UK) within 7 days you can cancel your order for a full refund, without giving a reason. The seller must then give you a refund within 30 days. So don’t worry about what you’re buying may not be perfect, you can always send it back.
Where can I read customer reviews of the above items? If you click on them it will take you to Amazon listings. Often they have existing customer reviews so you can read peoples opinions. Alternatively try the review websites, such as ReviewCentre, or an aggregator like TestFreaks that brings together multiple sources.
Why do you always link to Amazon, are they always cheapest? Not always, we are not a price comparison website so finding the cheap prices is not our aim, we are finding the best products. Amazon provide a fantastic service, and are highly competitive when it comes to the cost, so we link to them due to their level of overall service.
Still got a question? You can ask it in the section below and hopefully someone can help you.

I have a Sony Bravia TV and bluray player. I req. just a 5.1 sound system with wireless speakers. Can yoe give me a model and price please?
Unfortunately Geoff the wireless surround sound systems always come as a home cinema set (IE with DVD/blu-ray player), there are very few ‘speaker only’ sets as you can see above, and none of those are wireless ready I’m afraid. So you’ll either have to buy a pair of regular wireless speakers which are not surround sound, or sell your bluray player and buy a wireless home cinema which includes its own bluray.
Sorry, put wrong e mail address. Have just won by auction a Pioneer S11 wired 6 speaker system. How and what do I require to utilize this equpment to run from a Sony Bravia tv.
Regards.
I’m not familiar with the product you mention I’m afraid Gordon. Wait until you’ve got the system so you know what connectors it has, then it may be best to pop down to your nearest Maplins, or whatever electrical store you choose, and ask them for the appropriate cables.
I know what bluray payer I want to buy, samsung 8900, but I am also looking for home cinema sound. Is it possible to not buy a system with yet another DVD bluray player just to get this sound or can i mix and match ie plug a sysytem into the chosen player and if so where is the amp located?
Thanks
Unfortunately surround speakers on their own are rare, as you can see from this page, very few products. You are much better buying a full home cinema system if you currently don’t have anything.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for comment. So are you saying if I wanted a blueray 3d player/recorder but also wanted surround sound I would need to buy two players, the on I want and the one in a surround sound system, that seems crazy. So my option is, if I understand you correctly, is to buy the player /recorder and seek out a stand alone surround sound speaker system?
If you want to seek out the speakers separately you can, but the chances are you will end up with an inferior system because of the standalone speakers that are available. Take for example the Samsung HT-C6930, which is a surround sound system with blu-ray player/recorder, 7.1ch surround sound (1330W), and is 3D ready should you get a 3DTV in the future. Not to mention it looks great too. A system like this is first class and it will be hard to replicate buying everything separate. Personally, if I was you I would buy an all-in-one system, less hassle, and you will end up with a better home cinema. And there are quite a few blu-ray home cinemas on the market so there is choice
I have just bought a Toshiba Regza 42HL833B 42Inch Full HD LED TV, but the sound is very ‘tinney’ and ‘boxey’.
What is the most suitable sound system to purchase to make a large improvement. The TV audio Sound Output is (RMS)W 2 x 7 stereo (14Watt). Connectivity: Input, USB and Audio In/Out. 1 x digital audio output (coaxial).
i am kitting a room out and want a surround sound system for my new samsung 46inch tv dont need a blu ray or home cinema what is the best quality speaker system to link in with my tv to be controlled by the tv controls
