Hi Martina, I have read in some of the reviews on the web of it stopping peoples laptops connecting to the wireless network. A few people have had problems with it. I would say that it shouldn't decrease your download speed, but this particular product has proven to give quite a few people headaches. So it is a risk buying it, either be prepared to send it back to the seller if you do go for it, but I would perhaps look for other solutions.

Hi John, yes unfortunately the base unit has to be plugged into a mains supply plug socket. If it is only a few feet away it will be fine but any further and it may not work.

Does the base unit need a power supply? I want a roamer phone for my parents but their BT socket has no power supply available and they don't want the disruption of relocating it
